HEAVYWEIGHTS SET FOR THRUXTON THRILLER

Several weeks after the season-opener at Brands Hatch event everyone is still buzzing with excitement - and looking forward to the next episode in this action-packed series which will take place at Pembrey Circuit (South Wales) on May 17/18.

The series then moves on to THRUXTON CIRCUIT - the high-speed Hampshire circuit hosting the third event in the 2014 BTRA British Truck Racing Championship on JUNE 14/15.

The sun-soaked Brands meeting produced some thrilling wheel-to-wheel action featuring a great variety of competitive machinery. The Division One battles featured the mighty MANs plus two rapid Renaults, a pair of speedy Scanias and a Mercedes.... which all headed the field at some stage.

In Division 2 there were new drivers and an even greater mixture with Iveco, SISU, Foden, Seddon Atkinson, Renault-Mack and the ever-popular Volvo Whites.

Leading the BTRA Championship at the end of this first weekend were reigning champion Mat Summerfield (MAN) in Division One and 'Rookie' truck racer Steve Rothery (Foden) in Division 2.

But the victory trophies were well spread about the paddock. In the Saturday races it was the MAN men out in front with first blood in Division One to Summerfield while Race 2 brought a popular win for Richard Collett.

The fiercely-contested Sunday battles brought victory in Races 3 and 5 for Summerfield with Chris Levett snatching Race 4 in his new MKR Renault.

Simon Reid took a pair of hard-fought wins on Saturday to top Division 2 in his Iveco. Reid continued on his winning way on Sunday taking races 3 and 4 -- but threw it all away when he dived into the Paddock Hill gravel trap in the final outing, handing the win to Steve Powell.

There were impressive debuts for the two newcomers to Division 2 -- with both Steve Rothery (Foden) and Ryan Smith (Sisu) surviving 'incidents' to get podium placings -- and Rothery actually left the opening meeting topping the points tables.
